Name: Alastaire Val'anune

Profession 1: Mining
Profession 2: Skinning

Age: 84

Short Bio: Born second son of Lord Tiresanthel Val'anune, Alastaire enjoyed an easy life. Not being heir to his father's house, he was allowed to do much of what he pleased, and he occupied most of his time cavorting and getting into trouble. Despite a rift in his family, things continued easily until the invasion of the Scourge. Inspired by a sudden onset of patriotism, he joined up with the Argent Dawn and found himself in Northrend as a crusader. He served well until his detachment was ambushed in the Dragonblight and subsequently slaughtered. Alastaire fell into a rift in the frozen tundra during the battle and shattered his right leg, though the fall saved his life. He recently returned to Silvermoon to discover that not only was his house dead and disolved, but that his cousin, Lady Indrael Zenithei, was now a noble matron. He sought her out, hoping to regain some semblance of the life he had before.

Physical description: Alastaire is a bit shorter than the average height for a sin'dorei male, with long, dark brown hair that he usually wears down. He has an unkempt goatee and usually sports a days' worth of stubble. A faint scar runs along his left cheek, and he walks with a slight limp. His expression is often either apathy or caution, though he is known to freely give a bawdy wink and grin. He prefers simple clothes, which are often not washed and unkempt.

Personality: First impressions make Alastaire out to be a jerk. He dislikes pretense, and speaks bluntly and in a gruff manner. Despite his natural affinity for putting people off, Alastaire is a soldier and a noble, and he is perfectly capable of formality and respect. He just doesn't feel most people garner it.

Character History: Alastaire, being the second son of a nobleman, didn't ever have to worry about making a good impression or becoming heir to his father's house. This freed him to live a rather wild and lavish life, traveling extensively and flitting away money on drink and pleasurable company. When he was 41, his dear aunt Lyrai Val'anune was betrothed to a neighboring nobleman to secure a trade agreement. She broke her marriage contract, however, and married a poor magister who she had fallen deeply in love with, one Silvauron Al'theal. She was subsequently excommunicated from the family, and Alastaire saw little of his aunt after that.

Despite all this, he maintained his life much as he had previously. His pretty little world was turned upside down, as many were, when the Scourge forces invaded and sieged Quel'thalas, and, inspired by a sudden whimsy of patriotism and need for adventure, Alastaire enlisted with the Argent Dawn. He soon found himself fighting the Scourge on the front lines as an Argent Crusader, and served his commanders well with a sharp wit and a tactician's eye. He knew little of the battles that raged at home.

On patrol one day, his detachment was ambushed and subsequently slaughtered by a group of Scourge forces in the Dragonblight. During the battle Alastaire fell from the ledge of a rift in the frozen tundra, shattering his right leg when he landed. He blacked out and was found a day later by another Crusader patrol. When he learned he was the only survivor of the battle, and that he may not walk again, he was sent into a deep depression. Unable to rehabilitate their soldier, the Argent Crusade decommissioned him and sent him into retirement to recover. He spent a great deal of time in the care of clerics and physicians until he was deemed fit to return to society and try to start his life anew.

When he arrived back in Quel'thalas the truth of the siege hit him in the face, and Alastaire learned that his house had been destroyed and dissolved. He also learned, however, that his cousin was now the Lady of one House Zenithei, and he sought her out for help. She referred him to Lady Steward Lindarcia Rellen'thas, who offered him a place with the Fel'solan.

Relationships with other characters: A sore subject.

Opinion of various horde races: Alastaire sees a need for any allies, so long as their goals do not sway too far from his own.
