Aside from the FAQ that I'm starting soon, there's still alot of information on our website.

Ok, there's a shit ton of information on the website.

Aside from all that, there's probably some things that we can add for you, outside of changing the programming code for the site. Consider this your suggestion thread, and put any concerns / wants right here.

We may not be able to make the changes immediately, but we'll try and get them done as timely as possible.

Does MMO Guildsites allow for (now, or in the future) an onsite wiki that all players can edit so that we can shift some of the massive workload of a project to update the lore and history, politics and plot off the officers and into the hands of everybody?

That's actually something I'd like to begin, Solandre, infact I made a thread regarding something like that in the On Plot section.

There are broken links in our join page, like for example the suncrown plots and over arcing storylines link. Would be worth spending some time going through that.

Secondly, we should put together a suncrown story timeline, and include it in the join the gild page along with that suncrown box on the right side/guild info. Something that shows a progression of the various major guild events with a minor description of what they entailed.

Also: There is going to be a very large overhaul to the MMO Guildsites forumsites as they announced back in september:

So, visually, it's very likely that the website will be changing greatly in that regard.

The reason I suggest Wiki's is because it's very easy to connect the pages, changes will be tracked, etc. etc. We can even make a TLDR box at the top of every page for quick reference purposes.

My major thing is, yeah, the plots and arcs link is broken. The Complete History of House Suncrown doesn't even mention Valinmar. These are things that new players will be confused by.

wiki's are easy - I'd be happy to help get the framework in place, then leave it up to people to start putting up content..

The one thing I can't do is integrate authentication with mmoguildsites

Ella: Can you look into the various Wiki software and figure out which would be best for our needs? You can then just send the information on to me, and I'll see if we can go to our Website developer and see if they're planning on some way to integrate it with the revamp - or beg that they do. Well I've set up things on TWiki as well as DokuWiki. They are both pretty simple, DokuWiki is very easy, but not as customizable visually.

Unfortunately do to the nature (read Corporate America and/or Non-Disclose Agreements) I can't show you the ones I've administered.

I totally agree that new guild members might benefit from an updated Suncrown lore page.

Maybe we could incorporate it into a greater "Suncrown for Dummies" page that newcomers could refer to as they learn the ropes?

The Suncrown for Dummies was supposed to be the FAQ that I was working on, but never actually wrote a single line of code. So we've always wanted to do it, but things always came up to stall it until it was mostly forgotten.

I'll be searching my desktop for the scratch ideas I had saved on it, somewhere.

I much prefer the TWiki. I would definitely contribute in any way possible.

I'm willing to help dig stuff up too...AFTER November. LOL

every month I mention things that I need help with on the website or would like to do, and have for the last six months been met with "the websites fine right now, lets work on other things"

I've also asked often for people to send me a pm or sunmail with broken links and such, only one or two people have.

and now you all come out of the wood work to help!

Well sure , but I expect you to stick to it, I have had a total of 4 volunteer web assistants who have fallen through and not completed their projects for me.

But here's some things to know:

A. MMO Sites does not support a wikia format that I know of, however it is easy for me to set permissions that let people edit webpages on this site. Problem with that is its all or nothing, so it not something we are inclined to do. 8toes may implement individiual page permissions in the future. But an actual external wikia may be the best option, we may be able to host it actually on our domain, as I don't know how much actual hosting space we have, I'll look into it.

B. Suncrown has at least twice tried to create a wikia, one was before most of our time (i think by aigun or catalia) and the other was by Ulian, but neither took off. Perhaps with this declaration of assistane the third attempt will be better.

C. I like actually having a progressions module for RP events, we can do that quite easily in addition to having a PVE and PVP progression module. We can either show all three, or rotate between them, or only show some on certain pages, (Like rp progression as a module when viewing the forums and PVE when viewing the events page etc)

tiss ok, that's actually a REALLY tall order to take on without a few helpers.

Ella's going to be helping me decide on a Wiki tomorrow. Look for a Wiki link for us sometime tomorrow, if not Wednesday morning.
